Frequently Ask Question's

Is there a minimum or maximum limit of participants for the tours?

We typically require a minimum of two participants for this tour. However, if you’re a solo paddler, get in touch with us, and we’ll check if we can accommodate you on an existing tour. For larger groups, we’re open to organizing a customized trip tailored to your requirements. Ensuring a quality experience is our priority, and that can sometimes be challenging with excessively large groups.

What is the guide-to-client and guide-to-kayak ratio?

We maintain a ratio of 1 guide per maximum of 8 clients or 4 kayaks. For groups larger than 8 participants, we’ll include an additional guide.

What should I bring along?

Hat, sunglasses, camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, long-sleeve top, towel, and a change of dry clothes are recommended. We offer dry bags for your belongings during the day. Anything you prefer to keep dry can be stored at our base.

Will our time be entirely spent kayaking on the water?

During the kayak tour, we’ll be mostly on the water, but the guide will plan short breaks as needed. Upon reaching the base, you’ll have time to change and pack your things. Your guide will provide safety instructions and kayak techniques, if required, before we begin. During the tour, we’ll take brief breaks while exploring the mangrove forest and for a quick swim in the main river. When we return in the afternoon, it’s advisable to rinse your personal kayaking gear with fresh water.

What is the minimum age?

The proper fitting of the flotation aid is more important than age. We have taken out kids as young as six years old. Under the age of 12, you need to be accompanied by an adult on a one-to-one basis. If you have young children, please contact us to determine if the trip is appropriate for them.

What if I am not a strong swimmer?

Strong swimming skills are not essential on guided tours, though some comfort in the water is required. You will need to have a sense of adventure and enjoy spending time outdoors and on the water

How fit do I have to be?

A basic level of fitness is recommended for our kayaking trips. The pace will be adjusted to accommodate the group, and we’ll have regular breaks. Our guides will provide you with helpful tips on effective paddling techniques, allowing you to quickly improve your skills. Remember, enthusiasm matters more than fitness.

What is the weather like in Langkawi?

The weather in Langkawi maintains a consistent hot and humid climate throughout the year, occasionally experiencing rainfall and cloudy skies. However, extreme weather conditions are rare. Positioned on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia within the Malaccan Straits, this beloved island benefits from protection against strong winds and storms, being sheltered by the mainland and Sumatra.

Located near the equator, Langkawi embraces a tropical climate, ensuring relatively calm seas in the Andaman Sea year-round. Thanks to its steady weather patterns, both locals and tourists can explore this tropical paradise at any time of the year.

Are there any other circumstances that might lead to a cancellation?

Safety is our top priority. If our guides determine that weather conditions pose a safety risk for the group, we reserve the right to cancel or terminate a guided tour before it commences.

What occurs if the trip gets canceled?

If the trip is canceled prior to the booking day, we’ll arrange for a rescheduled trip. In case rescheduling isn’t feasible for you, you’ll receive a trip voucher or a full refund. However, be assured that our experience indicates that Langkawi’s weather is typically good for about 98% of our tours

Can we plan the tour during low tide?

We can’t venture into the narrower canals accessible solely by kayaks. However, rest assured, exploring those smaller mangrove canals is our top priority! Please note that tour timings are determined by the tide level.

What To Expect During Langkawi Mangrove Tour

Kayaking At Kilim Geoforest Park

The Kilim Geoforest Park, nestled within the larger Geopark in Langkawi, is an ecotourism hotspot, fully protected by the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia. As a part of this remarkable Geopark, it stands as one of the region’s most significant attractions.

Embarking on a kayak Langkawi adventure or indulging in mangrove kayaking Langkawi tours within the Kilim Geoforest Park unveils its mesmerizing ecology. This park hosts a diverse wildlife habitat, boasting herons, red eagles, long-tailed macaques, reptiles, and more. Its Langkawi forests house approximately 40 species of saltwater fishes, thriving within extensive mangroves, enchanting coastal wetlands, and pristine beaches. The park’s allure extends to two captivating islands, Dendang and Langgun, recognized as spectacular nature parks.

Experience the thrill of observing majestic white-headed eagles being fed while cruising through the Kilim Geoforest Park’s mangrove forest, uncovering an array of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Exploring the park in the afternoon offers a chance to relish delightful lunches comprising fresh seafood sourced from local fish farm restaurants. So, if you’re planning your next Mangrove Tour Langkawi, book with us for an unforgettable experience!

Typically, the mangrove kayaking Langkawi tour sets off at 10 am and concludes around 2 pm for the morning session, or from 3 pm to 7 pm for the evening session. However, please note that the starting time might vary due to Langkawi’s changing tide levels, which shift approximately every 5-6 hours. On favorable days, we may conduct two trips, but on others, only one trip may be feasible.

The narrow canals within the mangrove ecosystem become inaccessible during low tide. At LangkawiGo, we prioritize providing an immersive experience. We believe it’s essential to explore these narrow canals during the Mangrove Tour by Kayak to truly capture the “Nat Geo Wild” essence! Therefore, upon confirming your booking, remain attentive for a confirmation message from our guide regarding the precise starting time.

Our goal is to ensure you experience the best of mangrove kayaking in Langkawi, navigating through these intricate canals for an unforgettable adventure.

Explore The Bat Cave

Our Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi adventure usually begins with a visit to the bat cave, although sometimes it might also serve as the last stop on our itinerary. At LangkawiGO, we prioritize your comfort and experience, aiming to avoid overcrowding at the cave. Due to its limited space, entering when it’s crowded isn’t ideal. Additionally, our knowledgeable guides are adept at managing tide levels to optimize your satisfaction during the kayak Langkawi tour.

The bat cave presents an incredible sight, with three distinct bat species hanging from the cave’s ceiling in groups of hundreds. Typically, visitors spend around 5 minutes exploring the cave unguided. However, our guides elevate the experience, providing in-depth insights that others often miss out on, extending the duration to about 20 minutes or more.

Join us for a unique Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi experience where our expert guides ensure you not only witness the mesmerizing bat cave but also gain a deeper understanding of its wonders.

Fish Farm & Briefing

At the fish farm, also known as the floating restaurant and the starting point for our Kayak Langkawi station, you’ll also enjoy a delightful lunch after your mangrove kayaking Langkawi tour. While our guide prepares the kayaks, a local guide at the fish farm will accompany you, providing insights into the area.

Before setting off on our kayaking adventure, we offer restroom facilities for your convenience. Please ensure any personal needs are attended to beforehand since the only available ‘facility’ during the kayak tour is nature itself (in the water).

Our kayaks are double-seaters, equipped with life jackets, paddles, two water bottles, and a waterproof bag per kayak. Additionally, a thorough safety briefing will be conducted before the start of the tour to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.

Join us for an incredible adventure – Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi, starting from the fish farm, where you not only explore the waters but also indulge in a delightful lunch and receive all the necessary equipment for a safe and memorable journey.

Kayaking

This is the pinnacle of our Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi tour and the highlight that sets our adventure apart! Prepare for an unforgettable experience as we navigate our kayaks into the narrow, picturesque canals of the mangroves. These passages allow only one kayak at a time, ensuring an exclusive and serene exploration. While smaller canals remain boat-free, we may encounter them once we reach the main river. However, our safety is paramount – boat captains are instructed to slow down within 100 meters of our kayaks.

Our dedicated guides, fueled by their passion for this environment, prioritize your enjoyment, aiming to keep you in shaded areas as much as possible. The kayaking duration is approximately 2 hours, but can vary based on the group’s pace. The entire route would take less than 1 hour without stops, yet we’ll leisurely navigate the canals, accompanied by insightful commentaries from our knowledgeable guide. Join us for an immersive Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi experience, where every paddle stroke unveils the hidden wonders of this captivating ecosystem.

Eagle Watching

During our Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi tour, you’ll encounter two captivating species of birds of prey: the Brahminy Kite and the White-Bellied Sea Eagle. As we emerge from the second mangrove canals, prepare for a spectacular eagle-watching experience. Unlike the Mangrove tour by boat, where feeding commonly occurs, we uphold a no-feeding policy. However, you might witness these majestic birds swooping down to catch their meals from the water, showcasing their remarkable hunting skills in their natural habitat. Join us for an unforgettable kayak Langkawi adventure, where nature’s wonders await at every turn.

Going back for lunch

After enjoying the eagle-watching spectacle during our Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi excursion, we’ll return to the floating restaurant for a satisfying lunch. The lunch package comprises chicken fried rice, refreshing orange juice (cordial), flavorful tom yam soup, and a selection of fruits. Any additional items such as fish, prawns, crabs, squid, mixed vegetables, and more are available at an extra cost, allowing you to personalize your meal based on your preferences. Join us for an enriching kayak Langkawi experience followed by a delightful lunch that caters to your taste buds and preferences.

This Mangrove Kayaking Langkawi tour offers an exclusive opportunity to intimately witness the mangrove forest’s beauty without harming the environment. It’s the ideal way to explore the rich fauna and flora of the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park up close. Designed for those who revel in being immersed in the captivating ambiance of our Geoforest Park, this kayak Langkawi experience promises an enchanting journey through the heart of nature’s splendor.
